J.L.G. Ferris, c. 1908: General George Washington at Christ Church, Philadelphia. Besides winning a revolutionary war, presiding over the founding of a new nation and managing a plantation, he served as a church warden and vestryman for decades in Virginia. He embodied the principle that if you want to get something done, ask a busy person for help.
