The Rev. Jim Bimbe and Junior Warden Moriah Niehaus of St. James’s, Mill Creek, Wilmington, Delaware, at diocesan convention (synod) last week, where she successfully argued for a resolution to award an extra voting delegate to every parish which elects a person under 30. It is one thing to wish for more youth and young adult involvement in our churches; actually empowering them is entirely another. (Cynde Bimbe)

Moriah Niehaus, right, is the junior warden of St. James’, Mill Creek, where the Rev. Jim Bimbi, left, serves as rector. She spoke in favor of a resolution that passed at convention, a resolution that gives parishes the opportunity to elect a third lay delegate to future conventions if that delegate is less than 30 years old. The hope is that this will increase the attendance of younger people next year and at future conventions.
