Prayer for South Sudan

Eternally wise God, reconciler of all things: Send the power of your divine love to the people of South Sudan as they attempt to move forward as a nation and reconcile their differences. Cast your heavenly bounty towards them through humanitarian aid and through the lending of human capital. Give them a spirit of intellectual enterprise mixed with unceasing trust in your divine goodness as they take on the responsibility of life in a global community. We also ask that you speak to the hearts of those of us whom you have called and will call to assist them in this task, casting fear aside and instead trusting in your will. Teach us to put aside our own differences in order to help the South Sudanese learn to put their differences behind them. We ask these things in the name of Christ, our Redeemer, whose reconciling power can do more than we can ask or imagine. Amen.
A Collect for Sundays
Lord God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ triumphed over the powers of death and prepared for us our place in the new Jerusalem: Grant that we, who have this day given thanks for his resurrection, may praise you in that City of which he is the light, and where he lives and reigns for ever and ever.
