IMS Turn 1.speedway

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, scene of the famous “500” mile race, has been sold, sending shock waves through Indiana; the Hulman-George family has owned it since the end of World War II, but sold out this week to businessman and former driver Roger Penske, whose racing teams have won Indianapolis 18 times. The speedway accommodates a quarter-million spectators and is the only racing venue on the National Register of Historic Places. (IMS)
