Tyler Trent has died, a Purdue University student and football fan who battled cancer and rallied sports fans to do the same; he was 20. He befriended members of the Purdue football team, who soon realized he was tougher than they were, fighting an enemy a lot stronger than Michigan or Ohio State. His fame spread from the team to the campus to the state of Indiana, and from there the nation, as sports media jockeyed to spread his inspirational message. His funeral at College Park Church in Indianapolis was live-streamed, with many speakers citing his deep faith. Purdue quarterback David Blough said Trent, the team’s honorary captain, would want the evening “to be all about Jesus.” (Sports Illustrated)
