This religious complex is known as the Monastery of Caves in Kiev, Ukraine; tensions are high there now pending the upcoming recognition by the Patriarch of Contantinople of the independence of the Ukrainian Church, which is hotly disputed by Vladimir Putin and the Russian Church. The move comes as a result of Russia’s annexation of Crimea; the Russian Church, which is fond of sending bishops to consecrate fighter jets, is now an arm of the government, though history shows the Church often pays a dreadful price when it aligns too closely with politicians.
