The Right Rev. Frederick H. Borsch has died, the former Bishop of Los Angeles and Dean of Berekeley Divinity School at Yale University. He was known for his emphasis on social and racial justice and serving the poor; he built the diocesan Cathedral Center in Echo Park near downtown, and is seen above in 1988, walking the streets of Skid Row with one of his clergy, the Rev. Alice Callaghan. (Brian Gadbery/Los Angeles Times)
