Among the recent missioner-guests at the Rosebud Episcopal Mission on the Lakota reservation in South Dakota were these medical students from the University of Chicago, who learned how to chop firewood for the mission’s Heat for the Elders program. These are some of the most gifted and privileged students in the United States, learning to serve the poor and save lives not through chemistry or surgery, but by physical labor. (The Rev. Lauren R.
