Nicholas Chamberlain, the Bishop of Grantham, has become the first bishop of the Church of England to come out as Gay. He was appointed last November by Archbishop Justin Welby, who knew of Chamberlain’s personal life; he’s in a longterm relationship he says is celibate. Welby said, “He lives within the bishops’ guidelines and his sexuality is completely irrelevant to his office.” Ten months after the fact, GAFCON has denounced his appointment.
