    • Yes! The Executive Director of the 13-county food bank, Katy Bunder, is married to the campus minster, Rev. Peter Bunder, who takes his congregation to the food bank once a month for “workship.” They work for an hour, then have Mass on the warehouse floor.

Thus when Ben ended up staying in town for the summer and had a lot of free time, Peter suggested he go to my parish, St. John’s in Lafayette, because our food pantry operates six days a week; I’m a Saturday coordinator. Ben is a great, great kid, a member of the Purdue track team (notice he’s tall and skinny), an Episcopalian from Chicago – and a great worker. I wanted to write his parents and tell them what a good son they have, feeding the hungry, not carousing at some frathouse beer blast every night. So proud of that kid – and the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, which I attended sometimes back when I was that age.
