The Rev. Tobias S. Haller, BSG, chose a dark background for this sketch, as he contemplated the holy astronomers gazing at the night sky. Copernicus, a priest, correctly described the Earth and other planets orbiting around the sun in 1543; this was not a cause of much controversy until later, once the Vatican got hold of Galileo. Kepler, a German scientist, elaborated on Copernican theory and discoverd the laws of planetary motion. They both saw God’s hand at work in creation.
