Francis Xavier, a co-founder of the Jesuits with Ignatius Loyola, is said to have converted 30,000 people in India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Japan, more than anyone since St. Paul. The miracles Xavier was said to perform are numerous and dramatic. But many abuses of the native populations are also attrributed to him and his followers. (iconographer unknown)
