Shinnecock Presbyterian Church, Long Island, New York, established by the Rev. Paul Cuffee, a Presbyterian minister and Shinnecock Indian who was instrumental not only in conversion of these Native Americans to Christianity, but in preserving a portion of their lands and their way of life from encroaching Whites. The Shinnecock people live on today; their reservation is probably worth millions just for the land alone, but they keep it as a priceless heritage.
