The ruins of a Benedictine men’s abbey, which succeeded St. Hilda’s “double monastery” for men and women at Whirby. People still make pilgrimage there, seeking the spirit and wisdom imparted by the beloved abbess, who is closely identified with Celtic Christianity. (source unknown)
