Anskar received two visions from God telling him to “Go and declare the work of God to the nations,” but his monastic brothers in Germany thought he was crazy for wanting to evangelize the barbarous Vikings of Denmark and Sweden. He tried his best, but the results were meager, two churches, a school and one priest. A century later, however, times changed, and people remembered his efforts; he didn’t live to see how successful he’s really been.
